Director, Product Management The overall focus of this pivotal role is to develop and drive business strategies for Control Brands within assigned Fresh product categories; ensuring that the business needs of Loblaw Brands retail customers continue to be met while maintaining the integrity of our brands. Spanning a broad portfolio of fresh categories this role provides the autonomy to inspire and coach colleagues into discovering the new, the next and the never been done before from a product development standpoint. Though innovation is a key piece of our business, a stable and steady base is equally important. Spanning this entire Centre of Store portfolio, the successful candidate has the responsibility of maintaining a framework that enables the individual product managers to effectively articulate their strategies to ensure a stable base business. This role is a great mix of core business acumen, strategy and creativity with the opportunity to coach and develop an ambitious and talented group of colleagues. Accountabilities: Demonstrates a thorough understanding of existing category portfolio, including sales performance and key branded competition. Has a thorough understanding of current consumer trends specifically within the category. Partners with Category Directors and Sr. Category Directors in driving category growth. Oversees project management with Product Managers to ensure strategies are executed and projects are delivered on time. Evaluates in-market initiatives and reviews the current portfolio to determine business and product opportunities. Drives exposure and understanding of the marketplace through regular retail visits. Prepares and reviews weekly market control brand sales and margin reports. Manages marketing partnerships to ensure product development aligns with the LBL strategy. Establishes tools and processes to aid Product Managers in maintaining a healthy base business. Influences decision making among category directors to ensure strong base business. Focuses on colleague development through coaching and robust IDP focus. Role Requirements: Minimum 10 years' related experience (preferably in a corporate food, packaged goods environment). Exceptional analytical skills for assessing Control Brand performance and forecasting. Proactive with strong self-discipline and organizational skills to manage multiple projects. Superior interpersonal and presentation skills for persuading stakeholders. Lateral thinker considering financial, technical, and marketing parameters. Experienced in vendor management and assessing vendor capabilities. Creative with strong negotiation skills and market knowledge. Sound business acumen. Key Measures (Performance indicators): On-time management of product management control points. Category growth, penetration, and profitability objectives. Base Business Health.
