Litigation Legal Assistant

My client is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Health Law, Personal Injury, and Insurance Defence legal teams in their Toronto, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have over 3 (three) years of experience working in a similar position. The primary duties will be managing administration for two busy associates. This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of 2/3 days in office or as required.Primary Responsibilities:General administrative tasks including answering the phone and handling messagesManaging all scheduling including managing calendars, and the Bring Forward “tickler” systemEnsuring organization and follow up on said Bring Forward systemCompiling, serving, and filing motion records and other court documentsDrafting, sending, and replying to correspondenceCommunicating with clients, experts, and the courtsPreparing and sending invoicesFile opening and closingManaging documents in a Document Management System and in RelativityDocument management including scanning documentsTranscription of dictation and/or proofreading dictation from an external centerOther duties related to administration of the practiceQualifications:At least 3 (three) years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably in a Litigation roleExperience in insurance defence, personal injury, and health law is an assetDeep familiarity with The Rules of Civil Procedure, particularly as it pertains to service rules and deadlinesA keen attention to detail and strong organization skillsA strong work ethicThe ability to work affectively on a team and individuallyExcellent communication skillsExperience with technology and working in a remote/ hybrid environmentExperience with Relativity and Document Management Systems is an asset
