Additive Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior
Rocket Lab is a global leader in launch and space systems. Our Electron rocket has provided reliable access to orbit since 2018, becoming one of the most frequently launched rockets in the world. Neutron will be our next rocket on the launch pad, an advanced 13-tonne payload class, reusable rocket to launch the mega constellations of the future. ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER II/SENIOR Based at Rocket Lab's headquarters in Long Beach, California, the Additive Manufacturing Engineer II/Senior is responsible for supporting the development of various Additive technologies (LPBF, DED, Hybrid Solutions) with various alloys. This role will support all Additive processes involved with the Rutherford & Archimedes engines. You will support the Manager of Additive Manufacturing and Production Additive Manufacturing organization, with deliverables required for internal leadership, board of directors, and investors. WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO: Process Development: Develop printing parameters for various metallic alloys using a variety of printing methods (DED & LPBF; monolithic & graded alloys). Create new and improve existing print programs. Provide engineering support for the day-to-day Additive Manufacturing operations. Work closely with downstream support functions to ensure print geometries can be effectively post-processed. Design for Additive Manufacturing: Provide critical feedback during the DfAM process. Work closely with Design & Manufacturing Engineers to design for specific types of Additive Manufacturing. QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL BRING AS AN ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER II: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent. 2+ years of professional experience with metal Additive Manufacturing. Experience with LPBF Additive Manufacturing of metallic materials. Firm understanding of DfAM fundamentals. Experience modeling in Siemens NX or SolidWorks. Proficient in Additive focused software such as Materialise Magics or 3DXpert / Amphion Suite. QUALIFICATIONS YOU'LL BRING AS SENIOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER: Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent. 5+ years of professional experience with metal Additive Manufacturing. Experience with LPBF Additive Manufacturing of metallic materials. Firm understanding of DfAM fundamentals. Experience modeling in Siemens NX or SolidWorks. Proficient in Additive focused software such as Materialise Magics or 3DXpert / Amphion Suite. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Must be physically able to commute to buildings. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes, and moderate levels of noise. Availability to work long hours and weekends as needed based on test and launch schedules.
