The Production team is accountable for the delivery of best-in-class Loblaw Brands packaging and is currently looking for an experienced Packaging Analyst to join our team. This unique role is positioned to support managing accurate control brand portfolio print and packaging specification databases as well as supporting the release of final printer proof targets. The ideal candidate will have experience reviewing dielines with an eye for technical print requirements while having some experience as a Production Artist.

The Packaging Analyst will report to the Sr. Manager, Production and will support both our retail and control brands initiatives. Also, due to the nature of the role, we would require the ideal candidate to work from our Brampton office 5 days a week.


Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the timely completion of print specifications and the collection of accurate dielines by control brand vendors using the online web portal for all control brand packaging projects, approximately 300-600 sku’s are with the packaging team at any given time.
  • Carefully review print specifications and dielines submitted by vendors to ensure they meet LBL requirements and suggest any corrections or revisions as necessary.
  • Carefully review material packaging specifications for accuracy against material guidance documents
  • Manage and facilitate the confirmation and updates of print specifications and dielines as required by the vendors for existing products.
  • Responsible for prioritizing projects based on communication with LBL teams established on deadlines and product launch dates.
  • Timely completion of specifications and dielines - critical as it impacts the launch of new control brand products to the marketplace.
  • Assist product teams and business units with packaging related inquiries and project timeline issues
  • Participate in systems and technology testing when required.
  • Follow up with vendors and printers to complete and verify information and resolve issues to keep projects moving and avoid delays to market.
  • Assist vendors and printers with questions and issues relating to the Vendor Web portal.
  • Set-up, print and ship print targets to printers as the appropriate time.
  • Review submitted artwork from printers ensuring that what is submitted respects our brand guidelines.
  • Review artwork for content approval against approved artwork.
  • Review colour of submitted proofs against target proofs supplied to our printers.
  • Ability to articulate differences between our final artwork file and the artwork submitted by the printer to our Brand partners.
  • Ensure Artwork meets specifications from the Printer, working to ensure Artwork is compatible with the specific printing process in use for each project.
  • Collaborate with Designers, Re-touchers, Editorial and Proofreaders, and Product teams, as required to achieve project objectives.
  • Work within the Loblaw workflow, ensuring necessary tasks are completed at the correct interval and completed properly, to maintain theintegrity of the workflow.
  • Interact with various Loblaw databases and systems for retrievingand updating Artwork information, including digital file system.
  • Keep up to date with current developments in software and hardware technologies as applicable to role.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of new specialists as required.
What You'll Need
  • Ability to commute to our Brampton office 5 days a week
  • Post-Secondary Education or equivalent experience
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (Verbal & Written)
  • Superior knowledge of all MS Applications
  • Experience with all types of packaging and print types
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Team player, one who is both collaborative with peers and management, and easily displays initiative to ensure projects stay on track
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize effectively and work independently in afast-pacedenvironment
  • Strong work ethic and detail oriented
  • Efficient and able tohandlemulti-taskingwell
