SB Media Group is looking for a mid-level PHP developer to join our team, developing and improving our user-facing web applications and in-house reporting and management platforms. This role will require your assistance in all stages of the development process from design through to post-deployment, seeing immediate results.

Responsibilities/Job Roles
  • Develop large scale web applications for desktop and mobile
  • Write front- and back-end code and design databases
  • Actively participate in the development process, from design to deployment and support
  • Contribute to our in-house monitoring and reporting platforms
  • Proactively seek to optimise our applications and web pages, improving bottlenecks and performance
  • Review data and logs to debug problems and improve user experience
  • Integrate third party API’s and expanding our own API library
  • Support in house teams with MySQL report generation and tech solutions
  • As we are a 24/7 business, you may be called upon, outside of office hours, to support critical issues, but this is not common

  • Very strong communication
    • Must be able to discuss projects and problems with non-technical teams, internally and externally
  • Confidence to make decisions
    • Working at this level means taking ideas and deciding the best way to implement them
  • Keen and able to work individually, as well as part of a team
    • Hybrid working requires the ability to work on your own initiative
    • Self-sufficiency is key to being given more responsibilities as the role progresses
    • Some projects require collaboration between both technical and non-technical teams
Required Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
  • Minimum 3 professional experience as PHP web developer
  • Strong Object-Oriented PHP 5 and 7
    • Unit Testing
    • ORM
  • Strong MySQL
    • Database design
    • Complex queries
    • Optimising queries
  • HTML/CSS/Javascript
    • Bootstrap, Sass
    • Ajax
    • JQuery
  • Confidence in using the *nix console environment
    • Tail, grep, awk, sed, vi
    • Git
  • Good internet technology background
  • Desire to continue to learn, solve problems and find innovative solutions
Desired Experience, Knowledge, and Skills
    - Templating engine experience, such as Blade, Twig, or Smarty- Experience in connecting with external API’s- Symfony, CodeIgniter- Test Driven Development
