Payroll Administrator, Saint John NB Commissionaires NBPEI is seeking a payroll administrator to join our Finance team in Saint John, NB. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and looking to join a progressive organization that is investing in technologies which optimize the payroll processes and the business. The Payroll Administrator works collaboratively with our operational teams across NB & PEI on a regular basis. This permanent full-time position offers a competitive compensation package commensurate with experience and qualifications. POSITION SUMMARY The incumbent leads the payroll process and works collaboratively with our finance and operational teams across NB & PEI to ensure our employees are compensated in a timely and accurate manner. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Contribute to the success of the organization by ensuring all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner. Accurate and timely end-to-end processing of our bi-weekly payroll across two provinces, ensuring wages, source deductions, unions dues and other deductions are calculated correctly. Process any other payments including mileage reimbursements and any other allowances that are paid as part of the normal payroll cycle. Lead transfer of EFT File (s) to bank in support of the direct deposit process. Respond to payroll inquiries from internal and external stakeholders in terms of their pay and other related questions they may have on a regular basis. Collaborate and work with HR team on proper handoffs while ensuring accuracy of employee data and compliance with internal policies. Understand and administer the set-up of earnings and deduction codes in the system that are recuring and special in nature. Ensure accuracy of employee data; maintain employee records and update changes in employee payroll profile information as required. Administer ROE process, including ROE Web and Employment and Social Development Canada enquiries. Reconcile payroll discrepancies and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may result in an off-cycle payment and provide a summary of the off-cycle(s) that were processed to reduce errors and omissions. Prepare, review, and approve the remittance reports that will be used to prepare all related payroll remittances including source deductions and other required remittances. Assist with the annual preparation of Ts, required balancing and associated remittances. Contribute to the overall evolution and optimization of the Finance Team QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS Post Secondary education in a related field with PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) certification is preferred. Equivalent experience in a similar role will be considered. Experience with tax and employment standards across different provincial jurisdictions. Highly organized with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and ensure a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Team oriented with the ability to collaborate with operations, human resources, and the finance team. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism, integrity, and discretion. Critical thinker who looks for ways to improve processes. Proficient with Office and experience with HR/payroll related applications is required. Specific experience with Criterion HR/payroll would be an asset. Ability to obtain a Government of Canada Level II (Secret level) security clearance is a requirement.
