Software Engineer - OpenServices Team

About the Role
As a Software Engineer with the OpenServices Team, you will be responsible for improving the functionality and performance of our systems, working closely with Business Analysts and Agile teams to develop new features and functionality for large-scale sports betting systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for small, medium, and large projects
- Develop new features and functionality for large-scale sports betting systems
- Produce robust, clear, and polished code using practices like Test-Driven Development (TDD)
- Extract and capture customer requirements using processes such as Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD)
- Develop solutions that are modular, scalable, and portable
- Work to improve overall system architecture and performance, design components to meet those goals
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a traditional science subject, ideally computer science, engineering, or other STEM subjects
- Demonstrable talent coding in at least one major language (such as Java, C/C++, Python, PHP etc.)
- Talent in writing and using algorithms and assessing time complexity and performance
- Understanding of databases and database schema design
- Adaptable, with a customer-centric can-do approach, willing to work flexible hours to meet deadlines
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity developing on Unix/Linux
- Scripting skills: Bash, Perl, Python, and JavaScript
- Knowledge on CI or CD and the associated tools
- Test automation experience (unit test or other)
- Experience on Web technologies and internet protocols (Apache, SOAP, WS-*, ReST, XML, HTTP, TCP/IP, WebSockets)
