This Opportunity

Our Toronto office of Smith + Andersen is currently seeking an Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist. The role focuses on the Accounts Receivable cycle and is responsible for effectively and efficiently collecting payment from clients. What You’ll Do
  • Generate and circulate Accounts Receivable billing reports to designated groups or individuals, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Contact clients by phone or email regarding outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Utilize strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively communicate in a professional manner to maintain the business relationships while collecting on past-due Accounts Receivable.
  • Escalate concerning accounts to the appropriate party for resolution.
  • Track and update all collection records, ensuring account information is up to date.
  • Follow up with assigned client contacts to ensure statements are accurate and complete, at a frequency that generates results.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to both external and internal client requests. Act as the primary liaison for resolving issues, engaging assigned project contacts as needed.
  • Process write-offs as required, soliciting approval from the appropriate parties for the credits.
  • Assist with year-end audit requirements.
  • Provide general support to the accounting team as needed.

Who You Are
  • Three to five years of Accounts Receivable/Collections experience in an internal accounting team, preferably in the design services or construction industry.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in accounting or business.
  • Experience with accounting software, such as Vantagepoint.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Superior organizational and administrative skills with the ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
