We are hiring a Site Superintendent. The successful applicant will succeed in a fast-paced progressive career, enjoy working with people in a team environment, and lead with excellence. This full-time salary role supports Avana’s residential development growth in Regina and as we expand nationally. Reporting to the Director, Planning and Construction , you will lead Avana’s development portfolio consisting of a combination of high-quality multi-unit, single-family residential, and commercial projects.

The Site Superintendent is responsible for oversight of the construction process and the overall construction activities within the established design, budget, and project scheduling guidelines, inclusive of the organizing, directing, controlling, and safety adherence activities on the construction site. The Site Superintendent will also work collaboratively with the Project Manager who manages all the administrative aspects of Avana’s ongoing construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct, and control the quality delivery of all ongoing construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications, and budget.
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day field activities and overall management of every member of the Avana site team.
  • Supervise and manage all in-field activities of the contracted trades, vendors, and suppliers to ensure quality delivery, working closely with the Project Manager, who is responsible for the execution of Project Schedule and the fulfillment of trade contracts.
  • Lead and execute in-field weekly site meetings.
  • Conduct employee orientations and safety meetings.
  • Ensure Avana is in compliance with all relevant policies and procedures of safety adherence.
  • Attend building inspections with the Project Manager as needed and correct any deficiencies.
  • Manage and facilitate equipment as necessary.
  • Site cleanliness, oversight, and delegation.
  • Attend and represent Avana at various community events and functions.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Preference to work in a fast-paced environment and a commitment to excellence.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail, with fantastic organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • A leader with the ability to work independently as well as be a team player.
  • Extensive experience in the construction industry, including experience in supervisory, management, or leadership roles is required. OH&S knowledge is a prerequisite.
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a post-secondary education degree or equivalent experience.
  • Gold Seal Certificate – Site Superintendent designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience with BuilderTrend is considered an asset as well.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada (i.e. Permanent Resident or Canadian Citizen).

Compensation Package:

  • Benefits: Dental and medical benefits package. 80% of the cost is covered by Avana. Option for employees to purchase disability and life insurance.
  • Pension Plan: The Pension Plan will commence in your second year of employment. 2% of salary matched in year two, 3% of salary matched in year three, 4% of salary matched in year four, and 5% of salary matched in year five.
  • Vacation Entitlement: 20 business days per year. Must be accumulated prior to taking them.
  • Annual Bonus: Opportunity to earn up to 10% of salary as an annual bonus.
  • Parental Leave: Once an employee has worked a full year (12 months) at Avana, they are eligible for four (4) months of salary top-up to $15,000, with ongoing benefits based on the terms stated above. Pension matching will not apply for the duration of the period of leave. If an employee provides resignation within 24 months of the paternal leave return date, the total amount of the salary top-up will be repaid to Avana.
  • Probation Period: The probation period is 90 days from the start date.
  • Criminal Record Checks are required for all Avana employees prior to being hired and will not be reimbursed by the Employer.
