Company Overview: The Supply Register are a managed service working alongside 4 large multi academy trusts within Devon & Cornwall. We are currently seeking enthusiastic and adaptable SEN English Teacher to join our team.
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Tutor to provide personalized academic support to secondary school students. The role involves working with students who may need additional help to achieve their full potential, including those preparing for exams, requiring catch-up support, or needing extra attention in specific subject areas. The tutor will deliver tailored learning sessions, adapting to the individual needs of each student to improve their academic performance and confidence.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 tutoring to secondary school students, focusing on [core subjects such as English, Math, Science, or other specified subjects].
Identify students' learning needs and create individualized lesson plans to target specific areas for improvement.
Track and assess students’ progress, providing regular feedback to students, parents, and school staff.
Support students in preparation for exams (GCSEs, A-levels, etc.), including subject revision, study techniques, and exam strategies.
Collaborate with teachers and other school staff to align tutoring sessions with the wider school curriculum.
Foster a positive, encouraging, and supportive learning environment that motivates students to achieve their academic goals.
Manage tutoring schedules, ensuring effective use of time for both in-person and virtual sessions, where applicable.
Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and performance
Qualifications and Skills:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience teaching students with SEN, preferably in a school or educational setting.
Specialized training or qualifications in SEN education, such as a Postgraduate Certificate in SEN or equivalent, are highly desirable.
Strong understanding of different learning needs and the ability to differentiate instruction and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual students' requirements.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, parents/carers, and external stakeholders.
Patience, empathy, resilience, and a genuine passion for supporting the holistic development of students with SEN.
