Building Surveyor

We are looking for Building Surveyors for a temp to perm position in Truro area, to start in immediately. Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday Rate: between £25-£35/h depending on experience Successful candidate will provide technical advice, assistance and support to people with disabilities and older owner-occupiers in respect of home improvement works and adaptations. The main purpose of the role: * Identifying property defects and solutions, preparing (or arrange to prepare) surveys, identifying hazards in the home utilising the Housing Health & Safety Rating System (HHSRS), to * Giving advice on whether work to a property is technically possible, prepare schedules of work, detailed specifications and drawings as appropriate, calculating costs * Liaising with contractors and assisting with any disputes between contractors and the clients * Managing caseloads * Identifying hazards in the home and be responsible for issuing hazard awareness advice and for referring cases onto the Private Sector Housing Team where appropriate. Experience / Requirements: * Able to carry out estate/house inspections and producing reports * Liaise with administrative colleagues to organise meeting in preparation of the reports * Detailed and extensive knowledge and practical experience of: building construction, building defects and their remedies, the housing health & safety rating system and the legislation relating to disabled facilities grants (DFGs) * Good working knowledge of relevant legislations and codes of practice * Great verbal and written communication skills * Have supportive attitude * Able to work well in the team * Have 2+ surveying experience The closing date for this position is 16/09/2024, with the expectation of a candidate starting immediately.
