Role Overview
Reporting to the VP, Operations, the Director, Operations will be responsible for successfully leading the development and operationalization of a regional growth strategy for the Inline Group of companies. The Director, Operations will work cross-functionally with departmental leaders to drive initiatives that support the articulation and implementation of the region’s strategy. In this role, the Director, Operations will hold responsibility for the development, support, and continuous improvement of all aspects of the region and will use a systematic approach to implement standardization and improve efficiency. They will foster balance between change and continuity, and act as effective liaison in challenging situations to achieve desired results. The Director, Operations, in concert with the VP, Operations and other executive team members, will establish and lead an effective business operating system to align all functions with its strategic objectives and vision. They will be instrumental in the implementation and change communication of new company-wide operating procedures and systems as the business evolves. While the Director, Operations will have complete oversight of the company, dotted lines will be created between all support teams (Finance, HR and BD) to the applicable executive team members to provide mentorship and coaching with each business function.
Business Operating System:
  • Maintain and lead an effective regional operating system; contribute and collaborate with the Operations team on strategic planning to set short- and long-term objectives.
  • Ensure that regional goals align with organizational goals; actively develop operational and leadership capabilities and ensure the team has the required skills, tools and experience to achieve success. 
  • Ensure coaching of, and adherence to, the core purpose, values and desired culture and support processes within all business functions.
Continuous Improvement and Change Management
  • Oversee and ensure a successful internal and external communication process for change management.
  • Perform gap analysis and risk assessments on existing or newly implemented processes to identify strengths, challenges, trends and areas for improvement.
  • Work with Technical Director and their team to develop or refine systematic processes to enhance operations, train employees on the systems and effectively communicate change; ensure change management principles and competencies are applied.
  • Coach and mentor team members on process management and fostering a process-oriented mindset within internal teams.
  • Identify specific leadership development skills and competencies that should be acquired by current and future leaders and institute a program and process that supports it with the People Operations teams.
  • Work with the VP. Operations on company-wide process and system improvement strategies.
  • Support the development of policies, guidelines, and programs that are scalable and align with the culture and vision of the organization.
Asset Management
  • Work with Departmental Leaders to cost-effectively procure, manage/monitor, upgrade, and dispose of organizational assets (e.g., vehicles, geomatics/geotechnical equipment, computers/electronics, software subscriptions/licenses, etc.).
  • Monitor inventory logs and preventative maintenance schedules to ensure adherence.
 Finance
  • Oversee and manage budget and ensure it aligns with company targets; responsible for Operational P&L and key performance metrics
  • In collaboration with accounting/finance leader(s), set and maintain appropriate financial controls and assist with AR collections.
  • Collaborate with other company managers and maintain a rolling 12-month forecast.
Business Development
  • Work with Business Development team to create goals, and strategic targets that will align with company goals.
  • Execute Business Development plan; meet with clients, attend conferences, pursuit of new accounts and support proposal team with strategic input. 
  • Align all team members with a business development mindset.
Leadership and Management
  • Ensure projects are properly planned and following Inline’s SOPs; contribute to the creation, implementation and improvement of SOPs.
  • Assist in the project planning stage to ensure pertinent information is gathered, risk is assessed, responsibilities assigned, logistics determined, and strategies developed to commit resources.
  • Support and administer forecasting and workforce planning process for business.
  • Deliver guidance on non-conformance and incident cause analysis. Provide directions on the implementation of resulting corrective actions.
  • Ensure compliance to project, quality and safety standards and commitments; resolve issues proactively.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, suppliers, team members and industry professionals.
  • Ensure the safety program is achieving company standards and meeting all clientele requirements.
  • Provide leadership and counsel on conflict resolution, employee relations, and workplace respect.
Qualifications
  •  Minimum of 10+yrs of industry-related experience with at least 7 yrs in a senior leadership role.
  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; business management or MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction estimating, budgeting, and scheduling techniques; Professional Engineer designation would be an asset.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Extensive skill in business process management, risk analysis, strategic planning, consulting, or similar.
  • A strong analytical mind with a proactive approach and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple priorities with competing timelines.
  • Possess a high attention to detail, organized task management and effective facilitation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
