We are looking for an experienced individual with a track record of success to join our dynamic, growing team in Vancouver.
The role of the Construction Project Superintendent provides oversight of on-site construction-related activities and certifies that the project schedule and plans are followed and productively executed while being mindful of safety and costs.
Position
The duties of the Construction Project Superintendent are as follows:
· Create a detailed project plan and complete critical path project schedule, and to then ensure execution and compliance. This includes the preparation and submission of construction project budget estimates.
· Plan and prepare construction schedules and milestones – and to monitor progress against established schedules.
· Work with project manager and team to proactively manage work interferences, potential issues, and conflicts in the schedule.
Prepare contracts for review and negotiate revisions and all changes and additions to contractual agreements with the Construction Management team (Project Manager and Construction Manager).
Represent company on matters such as liaising with client, site contractors, labour relations, and site and office personnel.
Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
· Supervise, mentor and coach project team members, including direct reports.
· Coordinate health and safety functions (e.g., safe-work procedures and accident investigations) involving owner/client, subcontractors, and direct-hire personnel.
· Perform site inspections weekly.
· Review all health and safety programs with supervisors and subcontractors before the start of work on projects, identify responsibilities, and emphasize cooperation among all parties.
· Establish an on-site health and safety documentation system for injury reports, Ministry of Labour orders, WHMIS, inspection reports, and other documents.
· Assist the project manager in his or her responsibilities or take carriage of these responsibilities if the project manager is intermittently offsite.
Requirements
The job requirements for Construction Project Superintendent are as follows:
· A degree from a post-secondary institution specializing in construction management
· At least 5 years of experience in the commercial or industrial construction fields
· At least one year of experience in a construction project superintendent role
· Experience with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, AutoDesk Build, or other construction-related software
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Project
· Fluent in English – written and verbal
· Ability to effectively solve problems, resolve conflicts, and adapt to change
