Director, Business Development

The candidate will manage the BDer currently in place, and will be the manager of its own R&D opportunities from prospection to deal closing and transaction management (including first introductions and presentations, CDA setup, R&D Proposal drafting, Term Sheet negotiation, and Agreement closing). The candidate will report directly to the CEO and will be part of the Executive Committee.

Main duties and responsibilities:

1. Manage and grow the BD team (currently 1 pax)
2. Identify, qualify, pursue and close new opportunities
3. Propose high value R&D proposals to our partners
4. Draft and negotiate term-sheets
5. Manage partnerships
6. Report opportunities and forecast to the CEO
7. Participate in the strategy and day-to-day operations of the Company as member of the Executive Committee

Essential Job Requirements / Qualifications:

1. From 4 to 8 years of proven business development activities in R&D agreement and license contracting, incl. at least 2 years of management
2. A PhD degree in biological science or related field is mandatory (in the muscle area is a plus)
3. Leadership, rigor, results-driven personality
4. Ability to translate partners’ needs into a meaningful R&D proposal
5. Excellent sales skills including prospecting, public presentation and communication, listening, negotiating, and closing
6. A perfect understanding of the business development process in a private R&D environment is required (Confidential Agreement, Term Sheet, R&D Agreement, and Licensing Agreement)
7. A demonstrated ability to promote a sense of urgency to complete tasks and deliver results on time
8. Up to 30% overnight travel required, including overseas
9. Native or native-like fluency in English is mandatory
