Join Roche, where every voice matters.The PositionWe are seeking a dynamic and motivated intern to join our bioinformatics team for a 12-month internship starting on January 6th, 2025. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in developing computational tools and contributing to cutting-edge research projects.The opportunity:Build a Python tool or R package to analyze various types of biological data.Contribute to bioinformatic analysis of genomic, transcriptomic, or spatial data as part of a research project.Aim to publish the developed tool/package or co-author a section of a research paper by the end of the internship.Assist the team by analyzing small datasets, identifying trends from data tables, preparing figures, and organizing social events and team-building activities.Who you are:Candidates should be in their 4th year of undergraduate study or currently enrolled in a MSc program.Strong computational skills with basic biological knowledge.Previous experience in bioinformatics or computational biology projects, preferably in a research or clinical setting.Ability to analyze large datasets and interpret complex biological information.Proficient in programming languages such as Python, R, and Unix/Linux.Understanding of genomic and transcriptomic data, as well as familiarity with Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) datasets.Experience in leading community events or university clubs.Experience in gathering and defining project requirements is a plus.Additional information:Duration: 12 monthsLocation: Mississauga, OntarioModality: Hybrid (Minimum 3 days in the office).Approximate Start Date: January 6th, 2025Please note that relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.Who we areAt Roche, more than 100,000 people across 100 countries are pushing back the frontiers of healthcare.
