Nautical Commerce is looking for Software Engineers to join our team in our Toronto office. We work in a hybrid work environment, and we value in-person collaboration and will often meet in the office three days a week.
Responsibilities- Build and ship code that delivers on customer needs, including DB models, APIs/GraphQL, backend services (Python/Django) and web applications (React/Typescript/Next.js)
- Collaboratively plan end-to-end architecture and implementation with our Product & Engineering teams
- Communicate with directly with customers to discuss upcoming features and impact
- Design product features that are scoped to delivery timelines (we use ShapeUp for product and engineering)
- Work with a team with competence and autonomy to meet their goals
- Solving commerce, fintech and logistics problems; including payment processing, payout processing, sales order management and accounting reports
- Manage workflow orchestration by building APIs that surface and emit events to downstream business systems; stitching together schema from various commerce vendors like SAP, Shopify, Magento, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or 3+ years equivalent experience
- Expertise with GraphQL schemas, especially writing public APIs with GraphQL
- Focused on solving customer problems and implementing end-to-end product features
- Experience working at fast-paced venture-backed startups
- A strong track record in building systems within distributed event-based architectures
- Familiarity with CI/CD automation and cloud architecture with Kubernetes
- Typical software development workflow items like planning, estimating, testing, etc.
