Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer Overview Our client, a global innovator in the specialty materials industry, is seeking a dedicated Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer to join their Maintenance department on a permanent basis at their Chirnside Plant. Position Details * Location: Scottish Borders * Schedule: Monday to Friday, day shift, 37.5 hours per week * Contract: Permanent Role and Responsibilities As an Electrical, Control & Instrument Engineer, you will be a key member of the Maintenance Team, ensuring efficient and timely maintenance work to support plant reliability and operational efficiency. Your responsibilities will include: * Safety Commitment: Include "Take 2" in your daily tasks to create a zero-harm environment, ensuring the safety of yourself and others. * Technical Support: Provide technical support for the installation and fault diagnosis of electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment specific to paper mill operations. * Proactive Maintenance: Carry out planned proactive tasks according to shutdown plans. * Reactive Maintenance: Address reactive tasks as required by the business needs. * System Development: Design and develop new electrical and control systems tailored to paper mill operations, and test, maintain, and modify existing systems to ensure safety and efficiency. * Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, quality standards, and environmental guidelines in all E,C&I activities. * Project Participation: Participate in the development and execution of OPEX and CAPEX budgeted activities and projects. * Asset Management: Develop and execute asset maintenance and replacement plans to optimise performance, minimise downtime, and reduce maintenance costs. * Maintenance Programmes: Review and implement planned maintenance programmes to meet statutory, OEM, and industry-specific requirements. * CMMS Auditing: Audit the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS-MaintainX) to ensure accurate and up-to-date maintenance history. * Additional Duties: Perform other duties as specified by the Electrical, Control and Instrumentation Supervisor and Engineering Manager. Benefits * Competitive salary * Relocation package for those moving to Scotland * Cycle to Work Scheme * Onsite fishing permits (Angling Club) * Occupational Health Service * Generous Pension Scheme Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: * A recognised apprenticeship scheme and a minimum of 3 years of experience in an electrical, control, and instrumentation maintenance team within a heavy engineering manufacturing environment. * Appropriate qualifications in their trade. * Familiarity with 400v electrical distribution and control systems, Advanced Process Control (APC), Distributed Control Systems (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. * Knowledge of HV distribution systems (advantageous but not essential).
