This paid internship is an exciting career opportunity for a dedicated team player who is an avid consumer of news, an excellent communicator, keen to dive deeper into the world of corporate communications and has strong attention to detail. We’re looking for someone who understands earned media beyond media relations and sees it more about earning the attention of audiences through any channel. The successful candidate will research, write, pitch across media, bloggers, podcasters, influencers, and creators, as well as monitor for coverage, and develop reports.* Candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada, and must be available to work a full-time schedule, Monday to Friday, for a six - month contract duration. This is a hybrid role, with the successful candidate working in FHR’s Toronto or Montreal office a minimum of 2-3 days per week. Anticipated start date is September 2024. Title: InternshipDuration: 6-month ContractStart Date: September 2024Work Schedule: Full-Time: Monday-FridayHours: 8:30am – 5:30pm ESTSalary: $850/weeklyPTO: 5 Paid Vacation DaysLocation: Toronto or MontrealWork Environment: HybridResponsibilities:• Daily traditional and social media monitoring for clients across a range of sectors• Reading industry news and sharing key pieces that cover important issues and trends with team• Crafting compelling, relevant and valuable pitches that will secure interest - editor, reporter, blogger, producer etc.• Following-up via phone and/or email on every pitch to secure coverage and/or spokesperson interview• Supporting the coordination of interviews and development of briefing materials for spokesperson• Working with the team to suggest story angles for client campaigns• Creating media reports to showcase secured coverage• Identifying new earned targets• Supporting new business development with research and internal communications initiatives• Providing support on other tasks as requiredQualifications:• Candidates must be perfectly bilingual in French & English• Bachelor's degree or Graduate degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Marketing preferred but not essential• Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to learn and incorporate industry-specific language• Exhibits a strong understanding of social media platforms and how they are leveraged by media• Excels in writing, exhibit critical thinking, and possess a “team player” attitude• Brings intermediate level PC skills (MS Office -Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and TEAMS)• Quick learner, enjoys a fast-paced environment and exceptional time management skills• Possess strong problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and a well-defined work ethic• Able to respond with appropriate urgency to situations and events that require a quick turnaround• Commitment to quality, accuracy, and detail including adherence to company and client standards• Experience working in a professional services environment or communications role would be considered an assetBonus Points for Experience With the Following Tools:• Muckrack• TVeyes• Brandwatch• TalkwalkerExperience Benefits:Throughout the internship, you will gain the following:• Opportunity to support other industries and groups across the agency, allowing you to try on many hats while exploring the broad field of Communications• Strong relationships with editors, reporters, influencers, bloggers, producers, podcasters etc. across the country by pitching different stories and learning different beats and focus areas• Strategic thinking skills by assisting with the creation of various materials• Access to mentorship from consultants and managers with unique insights and experiences• The ability to truly understand what it means to multitask, prioritize and work smarter (not harder)To apply for this opportunity, please submit both the English and French version of your resume and cover letter to [email protected] thank all applicants for their interest however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.FHR is an equal opportunity employer and is working to become the most inclusive global agency.
