Job Title:  Senior Data Specialist, Finance Location: Toronto ON Position Type: 20 month contract, Hybrid  Compensation: $90,000/year + Benefits and Bonus  Overview: In this position, the successful candidate will oversee and drive the improvement of data quality initiatives within Finance, primarily focusing on procurement functions. A deep understanding of finance and procurement processes, data governance principles, and data quality assessment and remediation is essential. The ideal candidate will lead the data governance team, work collaboratively with data owners, and effectively prioritize and address data quality issues.Responsibilities:  Take ownership and ensure the successful execution of organizational goals both independently and as part of a team.Possess strong problem-solving skills with a focus on implementation and execution.Manage data quality issue profiling and analysis within specific data domains and business functions.Collaborate closely with data owners and governance pods to identify and solve critical data quality issues.Ensure the implementation of data quality standards, methodologies, and best practices organization-wide.Prioritize and assign remediation tasks based on business impact and data quality assessments.Manage timelines, resources, and scopes to ensure the timely delivery of data governance deliverables.Monitor and report on the status of data quality improvement initiatives.Exhibit strategic thinking and expertise.Develop and refine data governance frameworks and policies for finance and procurement functions.Mentor team members to improve their understanding of data governance practices and tools as needed.Facilitate collaboration and communication among data governance pods, data owners, and other stakeholders.Present data quality findings and progress reports to senior management and key stakeholders.Advocate for the importance of high data quality standards and robust data governance.Requirements:Strong background in finance, particularly in procurement functions.At least 3 years of experience in data governance or a related field.Solid understanding of data quality tools, data management processes, and best practices.Proven experience in leading data governance initiatives and mentoring teams in complex organizational environments.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of engaging effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Ability to derive meaning from data, investigate complex problems, and synthesize information to communicate it effectively.Proactive and results-driven, thriving when empowered to take initiative and go beyond expectations.Nice to have:Extensive experience in finance and procurement data management.Proficiency with E-Procurement and ERP in Data Management.Knowledge of relevant legislation and standards affecting data privacy and governance.Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP®) designation or other certifications in data governance or quality management (e.g., DGSP) are advantageous.Experience with document repositories.  How to apply:Click the “Apply to Job” button and follow the instructions to submit your resume or contact the lead recruiter  Anne Lennox at [email protected].
