Job Requirements / Description
Our client is experiencing remarkable growth and has become part of an enterprise boasting a turnover of one billion euros. The owners are dedicated to Fife, with substantial investments being made. This includes transferring and manufacturing a product from an overseas plant, necessitating significant capital investment and the recruitment of key personnel to aid in the product's development and production. Consequently, they are seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer. This mechanical design engineering position is exceptional, encompassing various responsibilities, including visits to another site in Europe, grasping the current construction and design of the product, and transferring that expertise to Fife. The role's responsibilities entail: - Conceptualising, designing, and developing mechanical systems and components. - Employing CAD software (e.g., Creo) to generate detailed 2D and 3D designs, assemblies, and drawings. - Performing feasibility studies and analyses to assess design concepts, including stress and tolerance analyses. - Collaborating with electrical, software, and manufacturing engineers to incorporate mechanical designs into the overall product architecture. - Creating technical documentation, such as design specifications, bill of materials (BOM), and assembly instructions. - Facilitating the design transition from development to production, which includes optimizing manufacturing processes and collaborating with suppliers. - Participating in prototype development, including prototyping, testing, and iterating designs to ensure performance, functionality, and reliability. - Estimating material, labor costs, and project timescales. - Cooperating with vendors and strategic suppliers to develop mechanical subsystems and assemblies. - Performing root cause analysis to detect and solve design problems. - Engaging in design reviews to collect feedback, address issues, and refine designs. - Providing assistance in troubleshooting, repairing, and resolving issues when such support is warranted. Ideally we are looking for degree qualified(or equivalent) mechanical design engineers from a medium to heavy engineering environment with an understanding of complex fabrication
