The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design, development, maintenance, and optimization of mechanical systems within our nuclear facilities. This role is vital in ensuring the reliability, safety, and regulatory compliance of our mechanical operations. Key Responsibilities: Mechanical System Design and Development: Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for nuclear facilities, including reactors, cooling systems, and support infrastructure. Ensure designs meet all safety, performance, and regulatory standards. Project Management: Manage mechanical engineering projects from concept through completion. Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure project timelines and budgets are met. Maintenance and Reliability: Develop and implement maintenance programs to ensure the reliability and longevity of mechanical systems. Conduct failure analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff. Lead technical reviews and design evaluations to ensure high standards of engineering quality. Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all mechanical engineering activities comply with national and international nuclear safety regulations and standards. Prepare and submit required documentation and reports to regulatory bodies. Safety and Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies for mechanical systems. Implement safety protocols and procedures to protect personnel and equipment. Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving mechanical system performance and efficiency. Implement innovative solutions and best practices to enhance operational effectiveness. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of designs, maintenance activities, and system performance. Generate reports and presentations for senior management and stakeholders. Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with regulatory bodies, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding mechanical engineering activities. Provide technical support and advice to other engineering teams and departments. Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs for engineering staff on mechanical systems and best practices. Stay current with advancements in mechanical engineering and nuclear industry standards. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE), Chartered Engineer (CEng)) is preferred. Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with at least 5 years in the nuclear industry or a related high-tech sector. Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Proficiency in mechanical design software and tools. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. Expertise in project management and technical leadership. Additional Requirements: Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance.
