Vanderlande has recently built a large advanced automated warehouse for one of the largest retailers in the world in Canada.

You will play a pivotal role in our support of this state-of-the-art warehouse. You will lead your maintenance team and work closely with other teams to ensure efficient on-time preventive maintenance and swift troubleshooting when incidents arise with the material handling systems.

The ideal candidate for this position has a strong understanding of warehouse operations, is comfortable with high-tech systems and automation, is customer service oriented, has experience in leading teams, and is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency.

Essential Functions (Job Duties and Responsibilities): 

  • Promote and manage compliance with all relevant company policies and government regulations including, but not limited to: OSHA, company health and safety plans, contingency plans, and company training.
  • Lead by example through results-focused, people-centered direction, feedback, and coachingServe as first point of contact for all employee relations and material handling system operational issues
  • Develop effective processes to maintain system performance through shift changes, high volume periods, and irregular operations in conjunction with other stakeholders
  • Maintain open and transparent relationships with customer and other vendor contacts to ensure maximum material handling system performance
  • Ensure operational process consistency and employee development through the design and execution of standardized training and quality assessment programs
  • Follow established escalation guidelines in the event of system downtime or irregular operations
  • Manage employee schedules and daily work assignments in conjunction with other stakeholders
  • Leverage detailed reporting to understand system performance and implement continuous improvement projects around employee performance and system operations
  • Participate and lead (as necessary) team, site, and customer meetings to ensure open, effective communications centered on collaborative efforts to meet production goals

Required Education and Experience:  

  • Minimum 3 year technical experience in an industrial environment
  • Experience working with mechanical, electrical and controls (PLC, PC) systems 
  • 2 years of prior experience as a Lead Technician 
  • Valid Driver’s License 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years Material Handling Experience 
  • Minimum of 1 year CMMS Experience preferred

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: 

This is a full-time position / 24/7 operation

Travel: 

This position requires no travel.

Supervisory Responsibility: 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: 

  • This position works in a distribution center environment. They often must meet strict deadlines to maintain customer order deliveries.   
  • The worker will work indoors 
  • While performing the maintenance aspect duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. Operate and maintain equipment and measurement instruments. 
  • Frequently exposed to the material handling system, mechanical parts and vibration.
  • They will take the lead to identify and fix mechanical problems with machinery, and they commonly work with greasy parts and tools, sometimes in uncomfortable positions.  
  • Regularly required to talk and hear through a handheld radio and telephone. The environment can also be loud because of equipment.   
  • Knowledge and utilization of PPE (i.e., safety glasses, gloves, etc.) is required. 
  • Workers frequently bend, stoop, and reach from ladders and scaffolds.  
  • This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee at times will lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Regularly lifting parts and tools for extended periods of time and handling equipment such as conveyor systems. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and depth perception.

 Salary range:

This is a full-time, nonexempt position, eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. The salary range listed represents the maximum and minimum starting base pay for this position as of the time of posting. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Salary range for this position is CAD$90,000 to CAD$95,000
