Represented in all major reinsurance markets through a network of 38 offices, supported by over 2,000 employees worldwide, we have earned superior financial strength ratings from each of the major rating agencies.General Reinsurance, Paris Branch (a subsidiary of General Reinsurance AG) is offering an opportunity for Pricing Actuary in our Paris Office.Main Purpose of the RoleReporting to the Head of Quantitative Underwriting Support, the successful candidate will assist with pricing of P&C reinsurance treaties.Context of the RoleQuantitative Underwriting Support (QUS) provides technical pricing to underwriters across the P&C International unit. This role is within QUS but will sit with P&C International underwriters in Paris. The role will include exposure across a range of lines of business and focuses on key renewal dates.Key ResponsibilitiesPricing of reinsurance treaties in collaboration with underwriters.Developing strong working relationships with the underwriters.Continual improvement of existing processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency.Ad hoc support for the wider Actuarial and Underwriting Teams as required.Key Relationships:Members of QUS team.Gen Re underwriters in the Paris P&C team.Members of the wider actuarial and underwriting teams across Gen Re.Requirements or Key AdvantagesThe successful candidate will fulfil the following requirements:Excellent academic background of a technical or mathematical nature.Completed or nearly completed actuarial training from a recognised body (Institut des Actuaries / IFoA / DAV / etc.).Experience with insurance is essential; experience with reinsurance pricing would be very beneficial but is not required.Excellent Excel skills. Experience with a programming language such as VBA, R, Python, or C++ would be beneficial but is not required.Fluent in French and English.Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with people from all areas of the business but also able to work independently.Cultural fit for the team being open to challenge, willing to pitch in, and approachable.Additional InformationThe successful candidate for this role will be either a qualified or nearly-qualified actuary, with experience in general insurance and ideally reinsurance. Based with the P&C underwriters in Paris, the candidate will also work with the QUS team in London and Cologne, reporting to the head of QUS in London.
