B.Riley Farber is partnering with a highly successful, owner operated, real estate company, in their search for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This business is built on family values, inclusivity, and teamwork. This position reports directly to the President and owner. Over the years our clients’ operations have diversified, allowing them to keep a handle on all stages of the property development, construction and management process. Coming from a property management background, they have naturally evolved into other areas which empowers them to the control quality and ultimate success of the project. This diversification of offerings has safeguarded them from challenging market conditions, providing them with a solid footing to grow and evolve from when the time is right. That time is now - this company is set to double in size over the next few years. As such they are looking for an experienced, actively involved CFO to join the leadership team. The CFO will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial management, financial reporting, planning and analysis. Operating as a strategic financial partner to multiple business unit leaders, the CFO will have the opportunity to provide data driven insights to help drive the business forward. Reporting directly to the President, the CFO will operate from a vantage point required to ensure that the varying operating divisions are working cohesively and effectively. Although providing a strategic outlook, this role will still require a player-coach mentality. The CFO will develop and mentor a growing team and ensure they have the ability and capacity to excel as the company grows. To be considered for this role you will have: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or CPA designation is preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance leadership roles, specifically within a real estate focused organization. Working knowledge of portfolio property management, property development, and construction. Strategic and tactical capabilities, this is a hands-on role providing day to day expertise in all aspects of finance and accounting. Experience working in an owner-managed, fast paced entrepreneurial environment preferred, coupled with larger corporate experience. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with team members, cross-functional teams, leadership and external stakeholders. Proven track record of successful financial management of complex real estate projects from planning and analysis through development, financing and construction. Demonstrated ability to think strategically, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Excel is preferred.
