Health and Safety Advisor | Telford, Shropshire | £35-42K + package
A great opportunity to join an international manufacturing business as Site Health & Safety Advisor at a facility employing over 450 staff. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be responsible for leading on all aspects of Health, Safety and Environment, supporting a range of stakeholders to maintain a healthy, safe working environment.
The role focuses on ensuring compliance with Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and legal requirements, so you will provide professional EHS services and promote awareness within the company, ensuring the safety of employees, customers, and visitors.
Key responsibilities:
* Promote EHS awareness and compliance with legislation.
* Ensure company policies meet current EHS legislation.
* Support the company’s EHS strategic direction.
* Implement and maintain an Environmental Management System (ISO 14001).
* Develop a Health & Safety system aligned with ISO45001.
* Report on H&S metrics and suggest improvements.
* Identify and implement energy-saving initiatives.
* Oversee contractor safety protocols.
* Ensure compliance with H&S legislation and best practices.
* Investigate personal injury claims and support case documentation.
* Liaise with insurers on injury claims.
* Investigate and report incidents and accidents.
* Conduct risk assessments and guide Line Managers.
* Assist in EHS-related training design and delivery.
* Conduct audits and report findings.
* Ensure proper use and display of PPE.
* Provide technical support for compliance.
* Maintain COSHH Data Sheets and risk assessments.
* Coordinate with HR on Occupational Health referrals.
* Manage first aid supplies.
* Implement waste reduction programs.
* Coordinate relevant EHS meetings.
The ideal candidate will hold a NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) along with relevant industry experience, good communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships. This role would suit a Health & Safety Officer or Health & Safety Advisor looking for an opportunity to step-up into a stand-alone site-based role.
