Quantity Surveyor

Building a sustainable tomorrow BAM Site Solutions are looking to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Wellingborough Depot. This role will work in close collaboration with the BAM Site Solutions Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager and Departmental Leads, supporting the commercial performance of the contracting departments of BAM Site Solutions. Project values range from £10k to £250k aggregating to circa £8M per annum. This is a full time role working Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will support projects UK wide and will be expected to travel as required but based from our Wellingborough office. Your mission This position directly reports to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Departmental Leads to ensure commercial management of contracts in respect of risk and opportunity management, change management, budget and cost control. • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policies • Maintain effective communication with the commercial team, departmental leads and other associated disciplines. • Management of subcontractors including payments preparation, final account work, and inputting into dispute resolution. • Dealing with queries promptly to avoid disputes. • Monitor cost as part of budget and cost control. • Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports and present to senior management. • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy. • Understand and promote usage of Company Procedures and suggest improvements • Involvement in change management including input to construction programmes • Ensure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments • Provide commercial advice to the site team, and management on all contractual issues. • Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings. • Manage time and workloads for yourself in a structured manner. • Assist in delivery of commercial training to all staff. • Provide input to risk management of projects and departments. • Knowledge of construction procedures and working methods. • Carry out other relevant duties as required from time to time. Who are we looking for? • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar field desirable. • Have knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT • Have good general commercial awareness. • Knowledge of and experience in the UK Construction and Civils industry. • Experience in establishing and delivering work programs and schedules. • Hands-on experience in creating reporting and managing budgets. • Excellent organizational and time-management skills. • Outstanding communication and presentation skills. • Be computer literate, having experience with MSExcel and MSWord and SharePoint • Ability to understand and work to BAM values.
