Sayjo Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a client for a permanent, full time Senior Environmental Advisor Our client is a large chemical manufacturing site based just off the M62 between Leeds and Manchester, ideally, they are looking for someone with chemical industry experience. Mandatory: * Degree education in relevant science subject * Proven experience in environmental management and regulations, including ISO14001 Desirable: * Experience with the Environmental Agency and external stakeholders * MCERTS accreditation Job Purpose Accountable for environmental aspects of the site operation, ensuring compliance with Environmental Permitting Regulations, Hazardous Waste Regulations, Environmental Management Standard ISO14001, Corporate Environmental procedures and associated guidance. More broadly, to assist in all Environmental, Sustainability and Governance issues and actions as necessary to assist the HSE Department and Site to continually improve Health, Safety and ESG performance. Role & Responsibilities Responsible for compliance with the reporting and notification requirements in the site Environmental Agency Permit. Responsible for compliance with the relevant waste regulations currently in force, ensuring that the site is prepared for any changes or new regulations. Responsible to maintain all aspects of the Site’s ISO 14001 accreditation. Responsible to provide information at a Regional and Corporate level for Companies sustainability reporting responsibilities. In conjunction with the Technical department, review the EA monitoring techniques and standards to ensure MCERTS compliance. Responsible for managing the Site groundwater monitoring programme. Responsible for completion of the actions identified within the Corporate Environmental gap analysis plan, and continued compliance with the corporate procedures. In particular, manage and champion the Pollution Prevention Plan for the site and the Aspects and Impacts register. Liaise closely with operations managers and process operators to understand process conditions and how environmental performance can be improved. Key Accountabilities Contribute, advice and guidance to line management on the definition and maintenance of systems and procedures that ensure adherence to and compliance with environmental legislation. Carry out auditing of operational activities to ensure procedural, ISO14001 and regulatory compliance. Responsible for the site’s monthly, quarterly and annual sustainability reporting requirements, which encompasses energy, greenhouse gases, water, waste and effluent. Undertake requisite activities to maintain professional relationships with external regulators and verifiers such as the Environment Agency. Coordinate environmental training as required to cover site requirements. Salary: Up to £55k with lots of additional benefits.
