Job Purpose The Director, Quality will ensure overall accountability of Waiward’s Quality Management System (QMS) ensuring the QMS is effective and efficiently utilized by all operations and QA/QC personnel in both operational divisions. Responsibilities Displays a commitment to Waiward’s incident-free vision, values, and culture. Collaborates with all levels of the organization to ensure quality objectives are in alignment with overall corporate strategic objectives. Demonstrates leadership in the planning and execution of strategic initiatives to support operational excellence. Ensures the quality of Construction and Fabrication divisions are in compliance with all regulations, jurisdictional authorities and owner requirements and are in accordance with our internal Quality Management System. Works with data and metrics, such as NCR’s, inspection reports etc., to analyze emerging trends for needed action. Reviews contract specifications regarding quality control examinations and testing requirements. Represents Waiward with our clients on all quality-related concerns. Manages the development and continuous improvement of the QMS in compliance with regulatory requirements: Ensures current with industry codes and standards. Confirms QA/QC tools are functional for their scope to support the needs of our resources. Ensures competent resources are managed and maintained in accordance with Waiward’s development and training program, supporting our vision, and improving employee engagement. Qualifications A minimum of 10-15 years of relevant Construction, Fabrication, Oil & Gas industry experience in a technical and/or quality management role. Post-secondary degree in engineering, quality management or related field and extensive trade/industry experience combined with certified continuing education training in ASQ or ISO. Sound technical knowledge of all relevant industry codes and standards including CSA standards W47.1, W59, ASME B31.1, B31.3. Technical knowledge of QC/NDT processes, welding inspection, technology, procedures, including Structural Steel, Piping and Mechanical disciplines. Familiar with, and demonstrated experience carrying out, compliance audits. Detailed applied knowledge of relevant acts, regulations, and jurisdictional requirements. Familiar with ISO 9001 and other industry requirements for quality management systems. A team player who is self-motivated and has proven leadership skills. Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills that are complemented by effective interpersonal, oral, and written communication. Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and external relationships. Proficient in MS Office software. Working Conditions The incumbent is required to work in an office environment with moderate noise and travel to various project sites to conduct site visits on a semi-regular basis. The job may require the incumbent to walk stairs, be outside in inclement weather (slippery surfaces and cold), carrying objects, driving and being exposed to normal office routines. Physical Requirements The incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal for extended periods of time; and interacting with a number of clients. The incumbent is also required to sit for extended periods of time.
