The Destinus R&D engineering team is looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for aerospace to join our team. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong applied engineering skills and an aptitude for leading small engineering teams and projects. In this role, you will support the propulsion and vehicle teams as the focal point for leading mechanical design projects (Airframe, Propulsion, Landing gear, flight controls) through the entire design life cycle.
Tasks
Lead design projects for aerospace components and systems from the conceptual phase through manufacturing to integration and testing
Generate 3D CAD models, drawings, schematics, bills of material, and other related documentation required for manufacturing, integration and testing
Deliver technical documentation including any engineering calculations, analysis and assumptions required to substantiate your design decisions and solutions
Prepare and participate in design reviews
Manage suppliers and manufacturers by addressing any technical questions and resolving any issues which may arise during the manufacturing process
Select standard parts, fasteners, equipment and consumables following best practices and industry standards
Contribute to the DMU and configuration management
Requirements
BSc., MSc. in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Technician qualifications with substantial experience would also be considered.
+5 years of experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer in the aerospace industry
Strong knowledge of the manufacturing and assembly processes: machining, sheet metal forming, composites and additive manufacturing
Excellent CAD and PLM knowledge: Part design, DWGs, DMU management
Good engineering material properties knowledge
Strong engineering fundamentals and analytical skills: dimensioning calculations, load path definitions, basic stress calculations, energy and power
Seal and fastener design knowledge
Auxiliary component selection – general electro/mechanical components
ISO GD&T knowledge required
Fluent in English as a working language. French language is beneficial.
Proficiency in Siemens tool suite: NX, and TeamCenter PLM system, would be a plus
Experience with Metallic and composite structure design would be beneficial
Good to have experience with hydraulics, fuel systems and component design
