This cosy setting close to Brixton, a few minutes’ walk from the train and tube stations is seeking a Nursery Manager in waiting to join a dedicated and friendly team.

With plenty of facilities including the use of a swimming pool and soft play area, you will assist in the implementation of a broad curriculum of activities including science experiments, woodwork, cooking, messy arts and much more. This nursery has trained chefs who understand children’s specific nutritional needs and who encourage children to be adventurous in their tastes.

Caring for children from birth to 5 years old, you will support the Nursery Manager in the smooth running of the nursery. This will involve guiding and developing the team, assisting with nursery budgeting and finances, staffing rota, health and safety, and ensuring the quality of the curriculum.

Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of age-appropriate curriculum and educational programs, and ensure that educational and developmental goals are met for each child
  • Ensure the children are happy, safe and that their individual needs are met
  • Provide guidance and support to nursery staff, oversee staff schedules, ensuring suitable coverage across the setting
  • Encourage staff development and provide opportunities for training and professional growth
  • Assist in the development and implementation of nursery policies and procedure
  • Deputise for the Manager when they are away
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
  • Minimum Level 3 Childcare qualification
  • Experience of leading a team in a nursery setting
  • Effective communication skills to interact with children, parents, and staff, as well as the ability to convey information clearly and empathetically
  • A solid understanding of child development, early childhood education principles, and best practices for teaching and caring for young children
  • Proficiency in nursery administration, including record-keeping, budget management, and policy development
  • Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide nursery staff, set expectations, and maintain a positive working environment
