The Controller position is a permanent opportunity in the Toronto, Ontario region. Responsibilities include planning and directing all accounting operational functions, handling the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, evaluating accounting and internal control systems, and leading departmental staff. This position is for candidates who can effectively manage self and others within strict time constraints when providing client services, lead while also being a team player, generate innovative ideas, and challenge the status quo. This is a great opportunity for exceptional compensation, benefits and potential for career growth.Responsibilities- Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll- Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time- Work closely with executive team and partners to facilitate efficient and effective firm-wide operation- Evaluate, apply and refine policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies- Inspect deliverables of self and team to ensure that they meet client expectations- Complete month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, reconcile accounts, and handle G/L analysis- Manage the production of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly- Research, prepare and execute Finance Department initiatives such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, as required- Each month, present executive committee and partners with financial reports- Comfortable handling responsibilities beyond formal job duties- Manage daily cash and prepare cash-flow reports, projecting cash needs at weekly and monthly intervalsJob Requirements:- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment- Accounting experience in publicly-traded company a plus- Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines- Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges- Excellent technology, analytics and management experience required- Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"- Strong communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, both oral and written, and ability to build as well as deliver effective presentations- Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement- GAAP Accounting experience- BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field- Progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred- Strong communication and social skills- Advanced credentials such as a Masters of Business Administration / MBA or Certified Public Accountant / CPA are preferredRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
