Specifically as a stroke and vascular center—we see patients requiring hyperacute stroke care, post endovascular thrombectomies, abdominal aortic aneurysms. All other patients are of the medical surgical nature.The Unit is staffed by an interprofessional team. Our distinctive ICU offers first-rate care in an innovative environment supporting the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of the community. We are dedicated to building a diverse workforce that reflects the community in which we live and serve.Job Summary:Reporting to the Clinical Manager of the Intensive Care Unit, the ideal candidate will be focused on providing superior patient centered care in a dynamic, complex and rapidly changing environment where they will be given the opportunity to drive innovation and change.Job Description:Assessing a patient’s condition and planning and implementing patient care plansTreating wounds and providing advanced life supportAssisting physicians in performing proceduresObserving and recording patient vital signsEnsuring that ventilators, monitors and other types of medical equipment function properlyAdministering intravenous fluids and medicationsOrdering diagnostic testsCollaborating with fellow members of the critical care teamResponding to life-saving situations, using nursing standards and protocols for treatmentActing as patient advocateProviding education and support to patient familiesDemonstrating a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with hospital related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as requiredQualifications:Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing and preferably hold a Baccalaureate degreeRegistered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNOBCLS requiredACLS required within 6 months of hire3-5 years Intensive Care Unit nursing experience or successful completion of a recognized intensive care course with 1 year of ICU nursing experience preferred2 years of acute medical/surgical and Neurosurgical experience preferredAdvanced arrhythmias and 12 lead ECG interpretationExperienced with monitors, pumps, ECG machines, phlebotomy, and invasive pressure monitoring ventilators.CCRN certification preferredExcellent decision making & problem solving skillsStrong leadership & assessment skillsHistory of ongoing professional development and be a self-directed learnerAbility to work within a multidisciplinary team and Commitment to customer service and teamworkExcellence in communication, both written and verbalKnowledge and skill of PRISMA or CRRT an assetExperienced in patient education and sharing knowledge of expected outcomes and careAdvanced physical assessment skillsPositive attendance and work record essentialTo pursue this career opportunity, please visit our website: www.trilliumhealthpartners.caCandidates are selected on the basis of their skill, ability, experience and qualifications.Where these factors are relatively equal seniority shall govern providing the successful applicant.
