The role: Lead M&E Engineering Surveyor
The Lead M&E Surveyor job is a senior position within the Infrastructure team, reporting to the Head of Surveying. The role requires management and leadership of a small surveying team in their field of mechanical and electrical building engineering services expertise.
Key responsibility includes the production of inspection and reporting programme concerned with the condition of major M&E building plant assets, the development of short and long term budgeted programme recommendations including the production, prioritisation and scoping of the annual life cycle replacement and other investment programmes.
Key responsibilities are as follows:
Nationally lead and manage a team of regionally based M&E surveyors, and take ownership for a defined number of properties/area, to provide:
The build and development of the national annual LCR (Life cycle replacement) and associated programmes, with associated risk management processes, and take oversight of subsequent programme delivery.
Provision of technical guidance as requested to parties within BT, wishing to undertake works/installations that might have a detrimental effect on the structure fabric or engineering services of buildings.
Provide and coordinate M&E engineering professional services advice involving Landlord and Tenant related matters, Party Wall and other property related neighbourly matters and third party property related claims, as required.
Ensure compliance with policies & standardsPerson Specification:
Minimum qualification: QS Professional qualification MRICS or similar, minimum 10+years post qualification experience, M&E QS experience & knowledge
Experience and understanding of various forms of procurement, in particular the NEC and JCT standard forms
Advanced MS Excel knowledge
Able to work across a large number of projects at one time
An awareness of benchmarking cost to support best value design and procurement
An ability to quickly understand and consistently apply standard procedures associated with project delivery
Proven Commercial experience on projects
Commercially astute with good negotiating skills
