This leadership role oversees an accounting and clerical department. The Controller plans and directs all accounting operational functions, manages the accumulation and consolidation of financial data for internal and external financial statements, analyzes accounting and internal control systems, and guides departmental staff. Based in the Vaughan area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.Your responsibilities in this role:Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, accounts payable, and statutory reportingEstablish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal regulatory and company policies and proceduresConsolidation of legal entities for financial reporting under ASPE standardsMulti divisional financial statement preparation and analysis including P& Ls by Branch/SBUWork with operations to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiencyProvide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision makingPrepare and present financial information for annual reportsManage foreign exchange transactionsImplementation and management of internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and proceduresProvides advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reportingManage the priorities within accounting groupCoordinating the year-end audit and preparation of audited financial statementsResponsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and external reporting to financial institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are metAll other financial reporting to various companies and agencies (Bank Covenants, Insurance, Stats Can, etc.)Generation of reports of performance against budgetsSupporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspectiveAssigns and authorizes cheques, purchase orders and invoicesWith input from the CFO, responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controlsWork with external tax consultants in preparation of corporate Tax filingsJob Requirements:Requirements:University degree in Business/Accounting, with a professional accounting designation (such as CA, CPA, CGA, CMA).Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management. Cost Accounting an assetKnowledge of Foreign exchange accountingProficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsExperience overseeing audits performed by external audit firmsFinancial analysis, budgeting and some strategic planning experienceKnowledge of budget preparation and analysis techniquesAdvanced knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) Management and/or supervisory experienceRobert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
