Position InterDigital is looking for a recognized scientist to complete its team of researchers and engineers working on new video formats and new ways to consume video. This encompasses a number of research domains, spanning from energy-aware end-to-end video transmission, sustainable ICT (Information Communication Technology), machine Learning, streaming, and image and video compression. Basically, we are working towards designing new image and video compression / transmission / rendering algorithms with a strong emphasis on the reduction of energy consumption. To define and improve international standards such as MPEG, 3GPP, DVD, ITU… To achieve our goals, we are collaborating with international companies for the specification and development of international standards regarding those aspects, inc. ISO (MPEG), ITU and 3GPP. You will be part of the video Lab ( InterDigital - Create. Connect. Live. Inspire. ) and the Metavideo group (Video Lab | InterDigital.com ). Key Responsibilities Takes a senior scientific role in the definition of new sustainable image/video compression / transmission / rendering algorithmsParticipates to the research valorization through invention disclosures, publications and standard contributions. MPEG, 3GPP, DVB and ITU are particularly relevantDevelop technologies and solutions along those lines and contribute to the associated research tracksRepresents Interdigital as technical expert in front of clients and partners and represents the Group in standards, consortiums or conferences.Brings visibility in standardization to IDCC, as well as in complementary conferences, workshop and invited talks Typical Tasks To Contribute To Attends standardization meetings and potentially takes rolesIdentifies the technical tracks to be explored with considerations of complexityDevelops and supports the development of new innovative solutionsParticipates to the research valorization effort through invention disclosures and technology transfers, participation to tradeshows and publications in peered-review journals and prestigious conferences.Establishes and maintains collaborations with external industrial partners and fosters collaborations with academicsSupervises non-permanent Members (interns, PhD, Post-Docs).Therefore, we are looking for senior researchers and engineers with:Expertise in one or several following domains:Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Image Processing, StreamingPreferably with a PhD and some years in researchCommunication skills (publications, talks)Some knowledge in standardization would be appreciatedFluent in English (additional French knowledge would be a plus, but training can be proposed) Location : Rennes, France InterDigital is an equal employment opportunity employer.
