Working for Pembina means working safely.  Overview:Pembina Pipeline Corporation's Calgary office is recruiting a Technical Accounting Specialist to join the team. This position reports to the Director, Accounting Policy in the Accounting Services Unit (ASU), part of Pembina's Financial Services Division. The Technical Accounting Specialist will work as an internal service provider of technical accounting expertise across the business with a team of professionals to ensure complicated contracts are accurately and completely accounted for, support major transactions, assist in providing training on technical accounting topics, and develop, implement and maintain new and existing accounting policies. The Accounting Service Unit provides financial reporting and accounting leadership across Pembina's Service Units and is responsible for the preparation and compilation of Pembina's consolidated financial statements, notes, MD&A, and operational highlights. The team is also responsible for establishing and ensuring adherence to accounting policies, review and analysis of new accounting standards and interpretations, accounting for capital assets, legal entity reporting and regulatory compliance and maintaining SAP FI/CO data integrity.Responsibilities may include but not limited to:Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the “Life Saving Rules”. To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;Contribute to a team environment that values inclusion and diversity;Develop relationships with, and collaborate with Business Unit accounting, business development, and legal teams to review new or potential contracts, and assess appropriate accounting treatments under IFRS and/or US GAAP;Research and document technical accounting interpretations for complex or unusual transactions;Assist in facilitating training on technical accounting issues to individuals at all levels of the organization, including preparation of training materials;Liaise with financial reporting, corporate finance, investor relations, tax and other departments throughout the organization to assess the financial reporting impacts of acquisitions, dispositions and other proposed transactions;Ensure accounting policies are relevant to the business, up to date, and include sufficient documentation to provide guidance and support to Pembina's Business Unit or Service Unit accounting teams;Review new or amended IFRS and US GAAP standards and interpretations, quantify impacts on financial statements and disclosures, and work with the business to adapt processes to meet new requirements and revise policies accordingly;Assist Service or Business Unit accounting teams with analysis and special projects as required; andParticipate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.Qualifications:Designated accountant, with related post-designation experience;Strong technical accounting skills, with experience in IFRS and familiarity with US GAAP accounting interpretation, analysis, and implementation, including but not limited to revenue recognition, leases, and financial instruments;Effective written, verbal communication and collaboration skills;Attention to detail with research, analytical and problem-solving skills;Results-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a team environment that supports flexibility;Advanced Excel skills, and highly proficient with other MS Office tools; andBonus points if you have energy industry experience, public accounting practice experience, accounting system experience (SAP/Workiva/Power Bl), or any combination thereof. Pembina acknowledges that you may not have all the qualifications on the posting, and we welcome candidates who are passionate about this role and confident in their ability to apply.  The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the country of the position.
