Mechanical Contracts Manager

Job Description The role of the Mechanical Contracts Manager will be pivotal to the M&E’s ongoing growth and success. The position is for a long-term contract within Education and the job role will include: Liaising, negotiating and relationship building with clients and consultants on an ongoing basis Delivery of long-term public sector Measured Term Contracts (MTC) including healthcare, education, fire service, councils and government buildings Responsibility for delivering multiple small works projects running simultaneously whilst ensuring quality and client satisfaction, within the agreed timeframe Procurement, ordering and delivery of material on time Procurement and management of subcontractors Supervising and managing labour allocation and resources Working in partnership with Contract Quantity Surveyor to control all aspects of financial management of the contract including control of WIP, submission of accurate accounts and control of costs Working alongside the other Contract Managers and Supervisors in planning, scheduling and carrying out works Behavior Expected Self-starter Positive in all dealings with the directors, management team and staff Demonstrate sound technical awareness Commercial awareness Organised and structured in planning their approach to their own personal work assignments and that of the other members of their team Detailed care and attention to every detail of a project Understanding our clients’ needs and building lasting relationships from this understanding Strong attention to detail for quality and H&S processes Innovative and forward-thinking approach to each project Courtesy and respect for each team member Good personal organisation, honesty, communication, ownership, reliability and dependability Praise and recognition of individuals and the team for a job well done Essential Criteria * The applicant should be fully qualified Plumber/Heating Engineer * The applicant should have experience as a Contracts Supervisor or Manager * Experience in managing a team * Working knowledge of current Health and Safety legislation * Experience in commercial and industrial sectors * IT literate, e.g. proficient in MS Word, Outlook, Excel or similar * Excellent communication skills * Ability to demonstrate good team ethos * Full driving licence Desirable Criteria Whilst not essential it would be advantageous for the candidate to have: * Previous experience in a Contracts Manager role * Experience in working with Measured Term Contracts (MTC rates) * Use of specialised software packages such as Amtech or AutoCad software The Company Offers * Ongoing training and development opportunities * Working alongside experts in their field * Health cash plan including compensation for dentistry and optical well being * Enhanced maternity and paternity leave * Additional holiday increase with length of service * Team building and activity days * Monthly employee value-based recognition award – monetary gift * Health, wellbeing and social calendar of events * Long service awards As part of the “Day-to-Day” nature of this demanding and exciting role it is of equal importance that the candidate: * Is able to discuss and promote other niche services with clients and consultants that Irwin M&E can provide that would maximise opportunities * Shows ability to manage and deal with multi tasking and heavy workloads, so prioritising is of importance * Be willing to attend seminars and courses where required * Be aware of and work within Irwin M&E guidelines
