Project Manager  Permanent Position Shift: Days Hours: Full Time (40 per week) About the Role: Are you a dynamic leader ready to make an impact in the defence sector? We are seeking a dedicated Project Manager to join our clients Defence Programmes team. This role involves leading and managing diverse projects, from short-term initiatives to multi-year programmes, supporting the UK Ministry of Defence and other Original Equipment manufacturers. Your expertise will help ensure the successful validation, testing, and support of military vehicles. Key Responsibilities: Lead, manage, and develop project teams to deliver outstanding results. Oversee project budgets, schedules, and performance metrics. Conduct risk management using standard Risk Management Matrix. Manage contract deliverables, variations, and amendments. Handle subcontractors and subject matter experts effectively. Chair meetings, take minutes, and produce detailed reports. Support bid preparation and resource management. Ensure quality control and adherence to ISO standards. Build and maintain trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders. Continuously seek business improvement opportunities and align colleagues to these activities. Coach and train internal and external personnel. Maintain a safe working environment and adhere to company standards. About You: Essential Experience: Proven project/programme management experience from planning to delivery, particularly in engineering projects. Track record of meeting demanding deadlines. Experience managing contractors and consultants. Desirable Experience: Previous work with UK Government organisations, especially in defence. Experience in infrastructure projects. Qualifications: Degree in a relevant subject with relatable experience. Recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2, APM, etc.) preferred. Core Competencies: Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint). Ability to manage multiple projects for various customers simultaneously. Strong minute-taking and quality control management skills. Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 environments. Understanding of Safety & Environmental management processes. Personal Attributes: Confident communicator and change agent. Highly motivated, punctual, and organised with a methodical approach. Strong documentation and work instruction skills. Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer-focused decision-making. Ability to work under pressure with exceptional attention to detail. Self-motivated, forward-thinking, and willing to learn. Embrace a zero-blame culture for continuous improvement. Flexible and adaptable problem-solver. Essential Requirements: Willing to undergo a Criminal Disclosure check. Full UK driving licence. Ability to hold valid security clearance (SC), requiring British nationality and residency in the UK for the last 5 years.
