Our client is a main contracting construction company that specialises in both new build and refurbishment projects. They work across all sectors and have established themselves as a go to contractor in this space. On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials required for construction projects. This role demands a strong understanding of the construction industry, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work closely with project managers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement of materials. Buyer Firstly, what's in it for you? £35,000 - £37,000 28 days holiday (including bank holidays) Standard pension contribution Healthcare & death in service Buyer Responsibilities Liaise with current suppliers and uphold strong working relationships Place orders for materials, ensuring timely delivery to meet project schedules. Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site managers to forecast material requirements. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality. Conduct market research to stay updated on industry trends, new products, and pricing fluctuations. Work with the preconstruction team to review and analyse project specifications and plans to determine material requirements. Manage purchase orders, invoices, and delivery documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. Collaborate with the project management team to address any material-related issues or changes in project scope. Monitor and report on the performance of suppliers, identifying areas for improvement and cost savings. Buyer Requirements Proven experience as a Materials Buyer or Procurement Specialist within the construction industry. Strong knowledge of construction materials, suppliers, and market conditions. Excellent negotiation and communication skills. Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
