Employment OpportunityTEACHER-ON-CALL Reference No. QSL-QSE-TOC-0023PURPOSE: Reporting to the Principal, the purpose of a Teacher-on-Call is to instruct students in a variety of academic subjects at Quw'utsun Smuneem Elementary School in the absence of the assigned classroom Teacher. Quw'utsun Smuneem Elementary School teaches students from Kindergarten to Grade Four. This position is on-call or as needed based on staffing levels. The Teacher-on-Call will work onsite with minimal local travel required. Cowichan Tribes will be accepting applications for the remainder of the 2022/2023 school year.RESPONSIBILITIES: Instruct Students In Academic Subjects: Implement daily lesson plans as per BC Ministry of Education guidelines Modify lessons as per the individual student’s needs Track individual student performance, behaviours and any issues Maintain order and manage student behaviours while providing a lesson Provide general counselling to students Other related duties as requiredProvide Administrative Support to the Program: When required, prepare student lessons and assignments to meet regulated curriculum objectives Track student’s daily attendance Debrief with supervisor, other teachers, and parents if student issues arise Ensure a safe learning environment for all students Ensure Cowichan culture, values, and language are integrated in an appropriate manner in classroom activities Other related dutiesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (please attach all required documents) Bachelors of Education Degree required Valid Certificate from Teacher Regulation Branch 2 years’ teaching experience preferred Experience working in a First Nations community is essential and a willingness to learn about culture, customs & traditions of Cowichan people Criminal Record Check required First Aid / CPR-C required Effective December 1, 2021: full vaccination against COVID-19 is required to be eligible for employment at Cowichan Tribes.
